Letting your characters lead your story can be a strange experience. You often find yourself heading in directions you never expected, or writing things that you never believed your brain was capable of coming up with. It often feels as if an entirely different person is speaking through you. In a way, they are – after all, your characters are not you – but you should always remember that you are responsible for your creations. Take the credit where it’s due and know that you are not alone.
