Morning Thought: Respect your Boundaries

I’ve had far too many conversations about this recently – either people wanting to cross mine or others complaining to me that people have crossed theirs. Boundaries are there for a reason. They tell the world who we are. So the next time someone insists on trying to cross yours, ask yourself why you should even think about letting them, and then, tell them where your line is drawn. I know you can because you are worth FAR more than they are. Explore your limits, by all means, but do it because you want to, not because someone else is insisting you do.

Morning Thought: Take a Step Back

Step Back and gain the perspective you need to see your project through new eyes. Trust me, taking a break might well be the most productive thing you could do all day.

Morning Thought: Celebrate your Success!

It’s not just an excuse to party, it’s also a way to acknowledge what you’ve achieved. It’s a necessary part of the process if you want long-term growth and happiness. So go on… Celebrate. I’ll be right there with ya!

Morning Thought: Seriously…Work Smarter, Not Harder

It’s a tale as old as time, and one that is oft-repeated, but it’s also one that is oh, so very true! Not only do you deserve to not drown under a metric fuck-tonne of stress, but your clients do as well. They deserve to know that the person crafting their product is doing it out of love and care, not caffeine and coke. So, do yourself a favour. You can do it with me. Take a breath, let it out and then… Make A Plan! We’re in this together folks, I’m planning right alongside you! (I even bought a physical diary the other day! It’s now got words and numbers in it. It’s great!)

Morning Thought: Stop rewriting that scene!

I mean it. Stop! Shitty first drafts are meant to be shitty and perfection is a lie we tell ourselves to stop us achieving our goals. So step away from that scene and start looking at the bigger picture. You CAN finish your work, so stop placing unnecessary roadblocks in your own way. I guarantee you that by the time you get to the end, you’ll have the solution to your problem.

Perfection is a lie we tell ourselves to hide from the truth. We all fuck up.
